What Is Lexan?

Lexan is a thermoplastic made from polycarbonate resin. This means that it is a solid material that can be deformed by extreme heat (usually 147 degrees Celsius or 297 degrees Fahrenheit), and that the molecule is made up of iterative subunits.

Kitchenware. Bulletproof glass. Headlamps. DVDs. Lexan serves as an essential material for the creation of countless modern products and components, so much so that you`ve probably used an item made with Lexan today without even knowing it. But how, you may ask, can the same material be tough enough to stop a bullet and yet flexible enough to help create something as delicate as a DVD? The answer was in the unique chemical makeup and development process of Lexan’s proprietary chemical cosmetic lexan, which leaded to one of the most respected and extensive plastics in the world.
